Platform Reliability Engineer
About Heimdall Power
Heimdall Power is a growing Norwegian technology company established in 2016. With close to 70 employees across Norway, Europe, and the US, we develop cutting-edge software and hardware that increase grid capacity and accelerate the global green transition.
Our unique solution combines our sensor technology the Neuron with advanced software platforms that deliver real-time insight into power grids. By increasing capacity in existing infrastructure by up to 30%, we enable more renewable energy integration and smarter electrification strengthening the grid, the operators, and the communities that depend on it.
We have global ambitions and are already present in 15 European countries and the US.
As we scale internationally, our platform must operate reliably across cloud, edge devices, and customer-hosted environments including regulated, on-prem, and air-gapped infrastructures. To support this growth, we are now hiring a Platform Reliability Engineer to strengthen the reliability and operational excellence of our customer-hosted and hybrid platforms in Norway.
The Role
As a Platform Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring that our software stack runs securely, predictably, and reliably in real production environments in customer-hosted infrastructure. This is a hands-on reliability and operations engineering role, where your focus will be on keeping systems stable, predictable, and easy to operate in real production environments.
This is a hands-on reliability and operations engineering role, with roughly 70% operational work and 30% development/automation. You won’t be building product features, but you will write production-quality tooling and automation to reduce operational overhead and make complex systems stable and “boring” even in highly regulated and air-gapped environments.
You will be part of the platform/infrastructure area and work closely with software engineers, delivery teams, and operations.
What You’ll Do
Operate and maintain production Kubernetes clusters in customer-hosted (on-prem/air-gapped) and cloud environments.
Safely and predictably upgrade clusters and platform components.
Troubleshoot complex operational issues (e.g., networking, DNS, storage).
Improve observability, metrics, alerts, and dashboards.
Build automation, internal tooling, and runbooks to reduce operational overhead.
Support incident response and collaborate across engineering, delivery, and operations teams.
Who You Are
You have experience running and operating production Kubernetes clusters.
You’re confident in debugging systems at the cluster and infrastructure level.
You are comfortable using kubectl, manifests, and chart tooling.
You enjoy making systems stable, reliable, and boring, eliminating firefighting through automation.
You write production-quality code for automation and operational tooling.
You can work effectively within real-world constraints, such as regulated and air-gapped environments.
Our tech stack
Kubernetes (Rancher, AKS)
Helm
PostgreSQL
Grafana / Prometheus
Infrastructure as Code
Ansible
PowerShell and Bash scripting
.NET
IoT Hub / MQTT / AMQP
You don’t need to know everything, but strong Kubernetes experience is a must.
Nice to have:
Security hardening, compliance, or audit experience.
Hybrid cloud or on-prem platform experience.
Background in platform, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
Why join Heimdall Power
Work with modern technology in a domain that actually matters for the green transition
Solve real operational problems across cloud, edge, and customer environments
Greenfield platform work, with room to grow into more ownership over time
A collaborative engineering culture with close ties to hardware, delivery, and customers
Competitive salary and flexible hybrid work in Oslo
This role is not
A pure development role
A “set it up once and forget it” infrastructure job
A position where everything is abstracted away by the cloud

About Heimdall Power
Founded in Norway in 2016, we set out with a clear purpose: to bring greater awareness and intelligence to power grids—making them safer, smarter, and more responsive. Inspired by our namesake, we believe in seeing clearly, acting early, and never standing still.
From day one, our work has combined Nordic engineering principles with global ambition. What began as a bold idea in the Nordics is now a growing network of technology, partnerships, and purpose—deployed across continents, supporting some of the world’s most forward-thinking grid operators.
The world’s energy systems are experiencing rapid change and unprecedented pressure. Our goal is to help ensure that change is both manageable and meaningful—with solutions that strengthen the grid, the people who operate it, and everyone who depends on it.
