Position Overview
The Director of Business Development will work closely with utilities, transmission owners, system operators, and power industry stakeholders to secure sales of Heimdall Power’s grid enhancing solutions (hardware and SaaS) in North America.
Our ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and proven sales leader with deep expertise in transmission systems, utility planning/operations, and grid modernization needs. This candidate will be adept at engaging in discussions at both the strategic and technical levels, and at converting sales engagements into lasting partnerships. Moreover, they must possess a track record of closing high-value SaaS deals and a proven ability to identify and solve complex grid challenges.
Reporting to VP of North American Markets, this candidate earns the chance to get in on the ground floor of Heimdall Power's market expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Development: Qualify and cultivate sales relationships with cross-functional utility decision-makers, from the C-suite to engineering project leads
Solutions-Oriented Sales: Partner with utilities to identify opportunities to enhance grid reliability, load performance, system resilience, and regulatory compliance
Strategic Contract Management: Lead high-value contract negotiations and close deals that deliver long-term value to utilities and Heimdall Power
Partnership Development: Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with industry influencers, including power industry focused management consultancies, EPC firms, and other entities and vendors serving the transmission industry
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree; Engineering or related technical focus preferred
- Minimum of five years of experience in utility-focused sales roles
- Proven expertise in SaaS and technical sales and the successful leadership of multimillion-dollar contract negotiations
- Extensive knowledge of transmission planning, operations, and asset management
- In-depth, cross-functional operational knowledge of U.S. utilities organizations and their ways of working
- Technical orientation, understanding, and interest
- Experience with CRM tools, e.g. Hubspot or Salesforce
- A willingness to accept greater management responsibilities as sales grow Heimdall Power’s position in the market
Preferred but not required
- Track record of engaging with regulatory bodies and navigating energy policies
- Knowledge and interest in energy trading markets, utility O&M and capital budgeting, and ROI analysis

The position location is in our Charlotte, NC headquarters, however we will consider a remote position for the right candidate. This role will require domestic travel and the occasional international trip.
